Quick Navigation
Program Snapshot
Degree: BA PPE · Length: 3 years · Language: English · Tuition: €7,000/year
What the program is
A three-year BA that unites politics, philosophy and economics taught in English.
You will learn to make sense of the current world and turn analysis into decisions at Charles University in Prague, the oldest university in Central Europe founded in 1348.
How you learn
Broad range of courses oriented on both foundational and emerging topics and small seminars where you engage with problems ripped from today's headlines.
From year one you shape your path across the three fields; from semester four you focus on one of three specialisation tracks. Economic reasoning supports your policy and ethics work.
Where it leads
Policy, consulting, banking, NGOs, and competitive master’s programs across Europe.
If you do the work, you will be competitive for top master's programs at Oxford, LSE, Sciences Po, and beyond. Our alumni are already there.
Who We Are
Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) at Charles University is modelled after its namesake at the University of Oxford. Our program is highly international, with 90% of its students from around the world. The curriculum trains you to understand hard problems from multiple angles, and to disagree productively with smart people from 40+ countries while doing it.

Curriculum Highlights
Contemporary Political Philosophy
From Schmitt's friend-enemy distinction to Rawls vs. the communitarians: the arguments that structure every serious political debate. You will learn why these fights still generate heat and how to hold your own in them.
Philosophy, politics and Economics of AI
Who wins and who loses in an increasingly AI-saturated world? How do you regulate technology that evolves faster than law? Power, ethics, and incentives are the three lenses that together shape a powerful PPE toolkit to tackle such questions.
Why can Americans ignore geography while Europeans cannot? Can enemies become friends, or do states only have interests? When and why do countries flip their foreign policy overnight? You may not always change the future, but you can learn to read it.
Geopolitics & World Order
Why did China's export machine succeed where others stalled? What killed the Asian Tigers in 1997? Trade, capital flows, and globalization can be understood both through economic models and through real-world cases that show what the models miss.
Economics of Global Business
Can poor countries industrialize without cooking the planet? Who pays for decarbonization and who decides about it? The central challenge of 21st-century politics is maintaining growth within the environmental constraints, and the brutal tradeoffs nobody wants to make.
Global Politics of Development and Environment
Oxford-style means something specific. you grapple with hard problems, you argue about them in small groups, and no one lets you hide behind jargon.
AT PPE PRague, We are not training specialists. we are training people who can see problems whole and do something about them.
— Dr. Janusz Salamon, Academic Director of PPE Prague
