    ZEINAB IBRAHIM

Hello, my name is Zeinab but I go by the name Moowj. I come from Sudan. I’m a PPE graduate from the class of 2023. In my second year I had the privilege of studying abroad for one semester, at Richmond University, Virginia. The experience was nothing short than transformative. Richmond boasts one of the world's oldest Leadership schools, the Jepson School of Leadership. During my time there, I delved into the intricacies of American and Latin American politics, concurrently enjoying captivating art classes and participating in extracurricular activities. Among my favourites were the course that focused on Brazilian politics. I was also involved in search for an eco-friendly solution for our campus, as well as spirited basketball games. Furthermore, Richmond’s East Coast location allowed me to explore New York and Washington, D.C.. The lasting friendships I forged in Richmond there are something I deeply cherish. I appreciate that the PPE program at Charles University enables its students to pursue these international exchanges, broadening the horizons of the Prague PPE students as the future world leaders.

    MARIAMI GAVASHELI

Hey, I am Mariami Gavasheli, from Georgia, a third-year PPE student at Charles University. During my second year, I had the privilege to be part of the inter-university agreement exchange at University of Melbourne, Australia. The six-month exchange proved to be a transformative experience, providing me with a wealth of lifelong memories. While at Melbourne, I scored the chance to attend classes that not only expanded my mind but also dove deep into the themes such as sustainable development and circular economy that became crucial for my current bachelor thesis. Apart from academic scenario, the exposure to the dynamic atmosphere of Melbourne, a bustling city, introduced me to a vast and diverse community. Being in a big city meant I could explore all around Australia. I had the chance to visit iconic cities like Sydney and engage in thrilling activities such as surfing in Byron Bay. These experiences have contributed significantly to my personal and cultural growth. I am grateful for the privilege and eagerly look forward to incorporating these experiences into my ongoing academic endeavors.

  • UNIVERSITY OF ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND, UK

    LUISA SAMPAIO

Hello, my name’s Luisa, and I’m from a city in Brazil called Porto Alegre. I’m a final year PPE student at Charles University. In my second year, I had the opportunity to study one semester abroad in Scotland at the University of St Andrews. My time in Scotland was both academically stimulating and culturally enriching. St Andrews, being a highly-ranked university in the UK, offered several research methodology seminars, which greatly improved my academic skills. During my time there, I particularly enjoyed the module “Moral Philosophy and Political Controversies”. This module delved into ethical dilemmas and political debates, challenging me to think critically and analytically about complex issues. While I chose St Andrews for its academic excellence, my time in Scotland benefited more than just studies. I was quick to fall in love with the country and with the close-knit academic community at St Andrews. Living in a small student town fostered a sense of belonging, and the frequent events organised by the University made it easy to engage and form life-long friendships. Furthermore, being based in St Andrews allowed me to travel around and explore the beautiful landscapes of the Fife area, and of course, make many trips to the amazing city of Edinburgh. I am very grateful for this opportunity provided by the PPE programme and for the support I received from our Social Sciences department.

    ARYAN MONFARED

Hi, my name is Aryan. I come from Iran. I am a 3rd year PPE undergraduate student. Starting in 2021, studying PPE at Charles University changed and developed my view on life and opened various gates to progress on my way. In my third year, I was lucky to be accepted for the exchange program at University College London (UCL), School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies. In my one semester at UCL, I had the chance to learn from the frontier leaders of institutional economics and elevate my previously gained knowledge from our PPE course in Prague. Living and studying in London was a one-of-a-kind experience as it introduced me to new aspects of academic and social life. UCL, as the largest university in the UK, is a top 10 world-ranked university with more than 50 thousand students from all around the world. More than 400 student societies are active in delivering whatever a student is interested in. The main campus is located in the center of London and close to King’s Cross, which, aside from being a hub for Harry Potter fans, is a place that can bring you anywhere within the UK and beyond. Going for a semester abroad for me was an experience that perfectly matched our objectives for studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. Having the best educational foundation and the best support from our department, at Charles University helped me to have the most amazing and fruitful experience as an exchange student at UCL.

  • WASEDA UNIVERSITY, Tokyo, JAPAN

    ANNA ZAMTARADZE

Hello! I am Anna, from Georgia, currently a 3rd year PPE student at Charles University. During the second semester of my second year, I had the unique opportunity to participate in an inter-university exchange program and attend Waseda University in Tokyo. The experience completely transformed the way I viewed the world before experiencing such an immense culture shock. During my time at Waseda, I was immersed in a diverse academic environment that broadened my horizons. Tokyo’s vibrant atmosphere and the university’s dynamic community offered a unique perspective on global affairs, which has been instrumental in shaping my career aspirations. Living in Tokyo also allowed me to travel extensively within Japan, exploring its rich cultural heritage. I also began learning Japanese, which helped me connect more deeply with the local culture and people, which was an experience of its own, giving me an insight into what true humility and grace can be. My journey to Japan, made possible by Charles University, allowed me to discover a part of the world completely different from anything I have known so far and has given the incentive to change a lot about myself. I am profoundly grateful to Prague PPE for this opportunity.

  • University of the Aegean, Greece

    IORDANIS BOURBOS

I am a Greek/Australian and a proud graduate of the PPE class of 2021. My exchange experience led me to the beautiful island of Mytilene in Lesbos, Greece, where I chose the University of the Aegean for its highly respected Social Sciences department. During my time there, I delved into the complexities of human behavior, exploring why we revolt and examining how tyrannical governments provoke social movements. Sociology served as the perfect complement to my PPE studies, broadening my knowledge extensively. Beyond academics, Lesbos provided me with an opportunity to actively contribute to refugee camps, fulfilling my commitment to making a positive impact on the world. Additionally, I savored the liberties of Greece, indulging in Freddo espressos, exquisite seafood (with octopus better than in my hometown), local wines, and the unique freshness of Mastiha, a drink exclusive to the region. This exchange not only enriched my academic understanding but also allowed me to engage meaningfully with global issues and appreciate the cultural treasures of Greece.
